Pen and Ink and Lots O' Dots

Harry Clarke

Edward Gorey

Jaime W.

I have always admired the quality of patience in others, and work at times to cultivate it in myself. Another quality I admire is consistency, and when thinking of these two qualities in art the work of Edward Gorey and Harry Clarke immediately spring to mind. With the repetitive crosshatching, pattern work and intricate detail, these artists definitely displayed an immense amount of patience and consistency. So, as an homage to these amazingly talented artists, I decided to try my hand at some repetitive, patient work for one of my sketchbook pages, and an hour and a half later, here it is! Thanks for checking it out.

Sketchbook Pages

These are some of my completed pages for The Sketchbook Project
I usually work with acrylic paint or pen and ink so I found using colored pencil challenging but it was the best medium for the sketchbook paper.

Tiny Mushrooms!

These are photos I took of some cute tiny mushrooms growing in my herb garden. I was trying to capture my idea of a little tiny alien world existing underfoot. I like the thought that there is so much going on around us in nature that is often overlooked. It's fun to imagine that there could be tiny creatures, gnomes or fairies, walking amongst these little mushrooms as if they were redwoods.
