I have always admired the quality of patience in others, and work at times to cultivate it in myself. Another quality I admire is consistency, and when thinking of these two qualities in art the work of Edward Gorey and Harry Clarke immediately spring to mind. With the repetitive crosshatching, pattern work and intricate detail, these artists definitely displayed an immense amount of patience and consistency. So, as an homage to these amazingly talented artists, I decided to try my hand at some repetitive, patient work for one of my sketchbook pages, and an hour and a half later, here it is! Thanks for checking it out.

These are photos I took of some cute tiny mushrooms growing in my herb garden. I was trying to capture my idea of a little tiny alien world existing underfoot. I like the thought that there is so much going on around us in nature that is often overlooked. It's fun to imagine that there could be tiny creatures, gnomes or fairies, walking amongst these little mushrooms as if they were redwoods.

Hello world! I have been inspired to create this blog because of my desire to do some crafts, promote my art and my current participation in The Sketchbook Project I will add pictures and art as I am inspired, and hopefully write a little too. Please check back as I am just getting started!
